OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Fundación La Caja Chess Club is a non-profit organization that for more than 50 years has promoted chess in sports, social and educational fields on the island of Gran Canaria.

Our sports curriculum is extensive: our club has won the title of Spanish Team Champion up to six times; We have counted in our ranks with individual Spanish champions from the juvenile category to the absolute category; world champions have defended the colors of our club in team competitions and we have represented Spain in international competitions.

Our training academy, over the years, has trained some of the best chess players our island has ever produced. But beyond the sporting achievements achieved and those that we will reap in the future, our main purpose, and the one we are most proud of, is to promote chess in the social and educational spheres. In this sense, we continue with our work in schools introducing chess as an educational tool, with a team of trained and experienced monitors. Our academy trains young people from the age of six, adults and seniors who enjoy the pleasures and benefits that the practice of our noble sport offers.

We organize all kinds of chess events such as tournaments, simultaneous events, conferences, courses, and we also support federations, clubs, educational centers, and any association that wishes to promote chess with our material and human resources. The Canarian chess magazine and the chess initiation booklet are an important part of our cultural legacy, not only on our islands.

These are two important publications in the Ibero-American chess community. Our facilities are open to all fans who wish to enjoy chess.

We will wait for you.
